The New Zealand Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers Club in association with Acceleration on Water Ltd would like to invite you to a great weekend for the 2022 Hydro Thunder NZ Championship series, 97th Masport Cup, 57th AE Baker at Glendhu Bay, Wanaka 12-13 November. Lots of racing both days for all classes, also featuring Round 1 of the NZ Formula One Series.
Entry to the event: All competitors to enter through the main entrance to the Motor Camp not the public entrance.
LIVE Streaming: We are still working through our options to have live streaming both days more information on this closer to the event.
Accommodation: I understand that the onsite camping is booked up try the Top Ten Holiday Park in Wanaka also available at the Lake is Glamping if you are interested contact Amy Westcott 0211436447 ( Explorelife.co.nz ) . Glendhu Camping ground still have Caravan and tent sites available.
Thursday night meet n Greet: For those who are in Wanaka on the Thursday we invite you to a meet n greet at the Speights & Ale bar , 93 Ardmore Street Wanaka from 4pm please come along and meet our sponsors.
Safety & Rescue: Marine Medical Services will be on the water with two paramedic divers, others to assist will NZPBA Rescue team and Manukau Auckland rescue boat.
Breath Testing: This will be compulsory for the Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers and random testing for other teams and Drivers.
Gate Entry: is $25.00 Adult two day $ 45.00 15yrs under FREE, Family $50 two day $90, each team will be given (5) tickets, you are welcome to purchase more tickets at $5.00 you can collect your tickets on Friday from Denise. If you have to pay to get in the gate then we will reimburse you and give you passes for the Sunday.
Security: There will be security on site overnight from 5pm-6am Friday, Sat nights
Friday: Set up we encourage you to get organised Friday as we have a full program on Saturday, practise organised 2.30-4.30pm on the Friday.
Scrutineering: We will be scrutineering on Friday and would like to get as many boats done as possible to make it a lot easier on the Saturday morning. We would ask that you appoint 1-2 people in your own class to scrutineer your class.
For those who have an air system in their boats can you please check that your air fittings are up to date if you have any issues please talk with the Rescue teams either Calvin Hicks or Shane Pennington.
For those who wished to be craned you will need to make sure your strops are also up to date.
Saturday night get together: Bring along your own refreshments we will have a food truck plus some music in the Corporate Marque.
Onsite food: The Wanaka Lions will be onsite all weekend providing bacon butties for breakfast, Hot dogs, Chips etc. during the day.
Coffee Truck and Ice-creams also available all weekend.
Do not drink and Drive:
Yellow Taxis will be available to transport those who are staying in Wanaka you can contact them on 0800443555. They also do pick up service from the Queenstown Airport to Wanaka.
Prize Money: This will be calculated on the number per class the more you have in your class the more prizemoney you will get.
Prize Giving Sunday: We will have a Prize giving Sunday afternoon same straight after the racing.
